One of Tiana's conventions brings both of us to Dallas, Texas, home of the Cowboys, Mavericks and Rangers. Somehow, our luck brought record cold weather to Dallas with temps reached 18 degrees and luckily we were prepped for the cold weather in Portland. Also, with only 2 days in the state and mandatory business to take care of, our adventures have to take a backseat to getting the job done. There was actually snow on the ground. The local kids walking around seemed to be as perplexed to seeing snow as we were.
We ended up using Uber much more often as the weather was WAY colder than Portland and a mile of walking in 18 degree weather was too much for these two soft Californians. We found out that Uber has great customer service due to a misunderstanding, but Uber was very prompt with rectifying our issue. Again, if you haven't had a chance to try Uber, here's a link for a free ride!
Paul's Tips for Dallas:
- Dallas seems to have a great crowd of twenty somethings running around. Maybe I'm just getting old.
- Downtown was DEAD during the weekend, but then again it was a playoff football weekend and it was record breaking cold. I can't imagine any one not at a football game.
- I kept hearing about Frank's from the locals, but apparently it's invite only. Knowing that, I'll definitely have to plan that out better by trying to get in contact with them much earlier.
Tiana's Tips for Dallas:
- For domestic flights, try to keep your baggage to carry on, especially when flying back to LAX. LAX has some of the worst and longest baggage service wait times, and you'll be lucky to not have things damaged, soaking wet or straight up missing.
